This subcommittee seeks to reduce ammonia emissions from agricultural sources. It was formed in October 2006 to bring agriculture’s voice to discussions on nitrogen deposition issues facing the park. The subcommittee collaborates with the National Park Service, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to review air quality monitoring and ammonia inventory data, to review the latest science and research, to educate and reach out to livestock and crop producers, and to provide recommendations on cost-effective and practicable ammonia reduction strategies for Colorado’s agricultural producers.
