Overview
The CDPHE Air Pollution Control Division’s Emission Reduction Credits (ERCs) program aims to enhance the effectiveness of environmental policies outlined in Colorado Regulation 3, Part A, Section V. The ERC program is available for stationary sources of air pollution in Colorado that want to make voluntary permanent emissions reductions to help control criteria air pollutants. ERCs are designed to help industries ensure compliance with current air quality standards, progress toward attainment, lower the cost of pollution control requirements, and promote economic development and industrial growth.
The program allows facility managers and operators greater flexibility and incentives to develop innovative and cost-effective methods for controlling air pollution in Colorado. Upon certification by the division, these credits can be bought, sold, and traded between entities. Credit owners can use emission offsets for future projects, if needed.

The division maintains a database that records all active certificates, expiration dates, and the creation, use, and transfer of ownership of credits submitted to and approved by the division. View the full registry online.
