Toxic air contaminants: monitoring

Overview

The Air Pollution Control Division recently started a toxic air contaminants monitoring program as required by a 2022 state law. In total, seven air toxics monitoring sites will be established.

The first three sites were installed and operating by January 1, 2024:

  • Grand Junction, Mesa County.
  • Commerce City, Adams County.
  • La Salle, Weld County.

Four more sites will start air monitoring by July 1, 2025.

The division asked for input to help inform the location of four monitoring sites. The proposed monitoring site locations will cover both urban and rural areas. Priority will be given to sites within disproportionately impacted communities.
