Common APEN or air permit exemptions

Select sources may not need to submit an Air Pollutant Emission Notice or require an air permit. Use the following checklist to determine whether you fall into these categories:

• APEN exempt/permit exempt checklist.

 

Use the following form letter if you want documentation that you're exempt from both Air Pollutant Emission Notice and permit requirements:

• APEN exempt/permit exempt letter.

 

If you require an Air Pollutant Emission Notice but are exempt from air permit requirements, use the following form letters if you want documentation that you're exempt:

• Internal combustion engine/generator letter.
• Heater/boiler,  gasoline station, and surface mining letter.
