Consumer Confidence Report (CCR) Rule Revisions

alt=""

What are CCRs?

Consumer Confidence Reports (CCRs), or annual drinking water reports, provide consumers with information about their local drinking water quality. CCRs allow people to make better decisions about their drinking water. Community public water systems must provide CCRs to their customers each year by July 1.

On May 24, 2024, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) finalized revisions to the Consumer Confidence Report Rule in the National Primary Drinking Water Regulations. The CCR Rule Revisions are intended to communicate important water quality information more clearly and improve report access. Beginning in 2027, the rule also requires systems serving over 10,000 customers to distribute reports twice yearly.

How to get involved

The Water Quality Control Division (division) will begin a stakeholder process for the CCR Rule Revisions in September 2024 to discuss the adoption of EPA’s CCR Rule Revisions under the Water Quality Control Commission’s Regulation No. 11. The division will share our proposal and request feedback on what areas of the rule need more guidance or compliance tools.
