Eligibility criteria

Out-of-state operators must meet the requirements in Board Policy 13-1: Policy Regarding Applicants Holding Certificates From Other Certifying Entities.

Operators who have taken a Colorado-comparable examination may be eligible for Colorado certification without examination.

Operators who have taken custom examinations may be allowed to by-pass Colorado's sequential testing requirement.

Out-of-state operators must meet the regulatory training requirement.

Out-of-state operators must meet Colorado's education and experience requirements for the requested certification category and level at the time of application.
Application process

The process:

Log in to the CCWP Portal.

User ID will be a unique email address.

Complete profile information, including experience and education, in the CCWP Portal.

Apply for certification by "reciprocity" in the CCWP Portal.

Applications will be reviewed in approximately 10 business days.

An email will be sent to the applicant with notification of the reviewer's decision and instructions for next steps.

Appeal rights
- Applicants have the right to appeal decisions of the board's contractor to the Water and Wastewater Facility Operators Certification Board (Board).
- Appeals should be submitted in writing to the Board office, cdphe.wwfocb@state.co.us,within 30 days of the contractor's decision.
- Appeals must detail the subject matter of the appeal and the grounds for the appeal.
