The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends prescribing PrEP to those who are at high risk of HIV infection. If taken as prescribed, PrEP is more than 99% effective in preventing HIV.

The cost of PrEP includes paying for medication, medical appointments, and lab tests. But, many health insurance providers, as well as Health First Colorado (Medicaid)can help cover the cost of PrEP.
