What we do
The molecular science laboratory performs molecular testing such as polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and nucleic acid amplification methods to rapidly detect pathogens in patient samples. Our testing capabilities continue to grow in order to respond to emerging public health needs and to support inspection programs.
Molecular testing methods
The speed and sensitivity of molecular testing methods provide early detection of infectious agents, resulting in prompt treatment and greater control of the spread of diseases than in the past. The State Public Health Laboratory PCRtest methods to provide rapid results to other programs at the State Lab, local public health agencies, and external customers.
Testing information
The public health testing supply order form is available for use by local public health agencies, epidemiologists, and health care professionals only (used for all public health testing and for all patient testing).
