Announcement of request for rulemaking
Bill SB23-290 Natural Medicine Regulation And Legalization establishes the regulatory framework for the production and dispensation of natural medicine and natural medicine product and amends the Natural Medicine Health Act enacted into law by Colorado voters pursuant to Proposition 122.
The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment is working to create new rules and get feedback on these draft rules for implementing this law in regards to product testing and testing facility inspection and certification processes. While the law has specific requirements that must be met, rulemaking is important as it determines how the laws will be carried out.
CDPHE wants to hear from a wide range of people who have an interest or expertise in the issues the law addresses. These include, but are not limited to, testing lab representatives and natural medicine cultivators and suppliers.
The Department is scheduled to go before the Colorado Board of Health on September 18, 2024, to request a rulemaking hearing for regulations related to the natural medicine testing facility (NMTF) inspection and certification process. Stakeholders can provide feedback and sign up to receive updates by using this online form.
