New law to boost development of recycling markets in Colorado

EVERGREEN, June 3, 2022 - Governor Polis today signed a law creating Colorado’s first Circular Economy Development Center, which aims to empower Colorado businesses to create products using materials that Coloradans recycle. The new law will help the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment achieve its commitment to diverting trash away from landfills, increasing how much residents are recycling across the state. 

State health department, Regional Air Quality Council mark the start of ozone pollution season

Meteorologists share advice for ‘Ozone Action Days’

REMOTE (June 1): The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment is partnering with the Regional Air Quality Council to raise awareness for the 2022 ozone pollution season. During those upcoming weeks, the state health department’s meteorologists will issue daily air quality forecasts indicating if the next day is an Ozone Action Day.

Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment to receive $2 million EPA grant to advance environmental cleanups     

REMOTE, May 23, 2022 – The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment will receive a $2 million grant from the Environmental Protection Agency to advance the cleanup and revitalization of sites in Cortez, Evans, Firestone, Longmont, and Lyons.This is the first time EPA has offered statewide grants for states and tribes, and CDPHE partnered with these five communities in submitting grant proposals. 

CDPHE to update COVID-19 hospital reporting to include reason for hospitalization

STATEWIDE (May 19, 2022) — The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment will update its hospital data to improve COVID-19 reporting among hospitalizations as part of today’s regular 4 p.m. data update. In order to improve data transparency and provide the public with better hospitalization information, CDPHE requested and began receiving additional data about COVID hospitalizations from hospitals and health systems.
