HB22-1267 Training Grant Program

In 2022, the Governor signed a bill into law, creating a Health Care Provider Training Grant program to enhance culturally responsive and affirming care for populations facing health disparities.

The program concluded in May 2024 with nine grantees completing more than 100 training sessions reaching over 1,700 healthcare providers throughout the state. Accomplishments of the training program include:

  • The training sessions supported all priority populations, including Black, Indigenous, and People of Color, LGBTQIA+, people with disabilities, older adults, veterans, children and families, individuals experiencing homelessness, those involved in the criminal justice system, and people living with AIDS or HIV.
  • The Office of Health Equity, through the Chief Medical Officer, has provided the Department of Regulatory Agencies with a summary of the organizations and description of the trainings. The office encourages regulators to provide continuing education credit where applicable to participants. Per the law, regulators shall provide the information to each provider and encourage participation in the training courses at the time of license issuance or renewal, certificate, or registration.
  • Subawardee organizations spent more than 92% of the total program budget that the law allotted to the trainings.
