State health department announces an historic $9 million enforcement package
DENVER, March, 6: The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment today announced a $9 million settlement to resolve air pollution violations at the Suncor refinery in Commerce City. The package of penalties and funding for community environmental projects, totaling $4.05 million, is the largest payment to resolve air quality violations that Colorado has ever required for a single facility.

DENVER (March 5): Today, Gov. Polis and state health officials announced Colorado’s first presumptive positive case of COVID-19, as well as a subsequent second case.
Colorado has first positive case of COVID-19
DENVER (March 5, 2020): The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment is reporting that the state laboratory has a positive test result for COVID-19 today. The case presented itself in a male in his 30s, who had contact with a known case of COVID-19.
Colorado State Lab now able to test for COVID-19
Denver, March 2, 2020: The State Laboratory at the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment can now test for COVID-19. Prior to now, testing had only been done by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The test will be used for people who meet the criteria for COVID-19 testing only; it is not available to the general public.

Colorado’s third novel coronavirus test is negative
Denver, Jan. 28: The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment received confirmation from CDC last night that the third test for the novel coronavirus was negative. The department continues to believe the current health risk is low for novel coronavirus in Colorado.
