REMOTE, Aug. 20: The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment reminds people recreating in Colorado waters to be aware of the potential for toxic algae and take precautions to avoid it.

DENVER: The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment is reporting the first human case of West Nile virus in Colorado this year. The case, reported to CDPHE on Aug. 12, presented in a person who resides in Delta County.  West Nile virus is most commonly spread to people by the bite of an infected mosquito.

08/06/20: The state lab determined that a bat found at Hidden Lake Apartments at West 68th Avenue and Lowell Boulevard on Aug. 4 tested positive for rabies.

Data show most youth participating in healthy behaviors, holding steady with 2017 data

DENVER (August 3, 2020) — Today, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) released the latest statewide and regional results from the bi-annual statewide Healthy Kids Colorado Survey (HKCS), the state’s only comprehensive survey on the health and well-being of young people, in middle school and high school.

DENVER: After a squirrel tested positive for plague in Jefferson County last week, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment reminds residents that it’s not uncommon for plague to be present this time of year, and simple precautions can keep the risk of transmission to humans very low. 

DENVER (June 30, 2020): Governor Polis today signed into law Senate Bill 20-204, enhancing the state’s ability to improve air quality and protect public health and the environment by providing the Department of Public Health and Environment’s Air Pollution Control Division with new resources for monitoring, inspection, and enforcement.

DENVER, June 23, 2020: The state announced the results of a project that tested water statewide for PFAS, pervasive chemicals that originate from toxic firefighting foam and other sources.

DENVER: The U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado granted the State of Colorado a stay on implementing changes to the federal Waters of the United States rule.
