Drinking Water Emergency

  • Potentially acute drinking water incident (e.g., turbidity exceedance, positive E. coli sample, line break, actual/potential backflow contamination).
  • All events should should be reported to the hotline 1-877-518-5608 as soon as possible.
  • Please have available as much of the following information as possible:
    • Date and time of incident.
    • Public Water System Identification Number (PWSID).
    • Water system contact name, phone number and email.
    • Description of drinking water incident or water quality exceedance.
    • Response actions taken.
  • Pressure loss response guidance.
  • Contact CoWarn for statewide Water/Wastewater Agency Response Network (CoWARN) of utilities helping utilities to prepare for the next natural or human-caused emergency.

Water Quality Spills

Water Quality Security Incident

  • Report a security incident (tampering, suspected tampering or tampering threat).
  • All security incidents should be reported to the hotline 1-877-518-5608 as soon as possible.
  • When reporting a security incident, please have available as much of the following information as possible:
    • Date and time of incident.
    • Public Water System Identification Number (PWSID) or permit number (if applicable).
    • System contact name, phone number and email address.
    • Description of incident.
    • Response actions taken.
  • We’ll provide assistance to ensure the safety of the public and the integrity of the system.
