Fountain Creek restoration

Background

In response to the oil spill in Fountain Creek (near Colorado Springs) that injured the State’s natural resources, the State Natural Resource trustees secured $345,000.  Colorado Parks and Wildlife will construct the Chilcott diversion fish passage structure restoration project.

Restoration

The Chilcott diversion fish passage restoration project will provide access to five miles of habitat above the diversion for the flathead chub and other high plains fish species. The restoration project will reconnect approximately 40 miles of unobstructed plains fish habitat along the main stem of Fountain Creek.
