Schools and school staff are uniquely positioned to support the prevention of eating disorders in the school community, to identify and respond when a student might be experiencing an eating disorder, and to provide ongoing support throughout the recovery process.
School staff aren't expected to be experts on the medical and psychological complexities associated with eating disorders. However, awareness of the risk factors, warning signs, impacts, and complications will help school staff recognize the importance of early identification, prompt response, and appropriate support.
