Update on COVID-19
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: March 7, 2020
DENVER, March 7: To be transparent and clarify the flow of information during the COVID-19 response, Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment outlined guidance today for local public health agencies.
Please review the attached document that details state public health and local public health’s role in COVID-19, the typical process for keeping the public safe and informed, and suggested guidelines regarding communications for local public health officials.
The department will update numbers daily on our website and provide daily media summaries over the course of the coming days.
Per protocol, each local public health agency is the lead investigator on cases involving people who reside within their jurisdictions and will provide information as necessary and appropriate to protect the public’s health. The state will provide technical assistance to counties and will act as the lead investigator on any cases that occur in Colorado but involve residents of other states or countries.
