Community Assessment Survey for Older Adults (CASOA)

Our Oral Health Program works closely with the Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS) and other partners to increase access to oral health services for older adults.

These regional reports are intended to provide a high-level summary of findings in succinct form with relevant appendices. A summary of oral health findings statewide and on a regional level can be found in the CASOA Oral Health Report.

About the CASOA

In 2011, CDHS and local Area Agencies on Aging worked with the National Research Center to perform the Community Assessment Survey for Older Adults (CASOA). CASOA provides a statistically valid survey of older adults in communities across America.

The objectives of the CASOA are to:

• Identify community strengths in serving older adults.

• Articulate the specific needs of older adults in the community.

• Estimate contributions made by older adults to the community.

• Determine the connection of older adults to the community.

The assessment focused on a series of needs among residents age 60 or older and the community’s support that fosters successful aging.
