Packing and transporting samples to the State Lab

Properly packing and transporting samples protects the integrity of the sample submission and all those who handle and process samples. All sample submissions must follow local, state, and federal regulations with regards to packing and transportation.

All samples must include a test requisition or chain of custody document. Results for samples that do not have  correct documentation will be delayed.

Clinical samples are biological substances collected directly from humans and animals that are tested for diagnosis, public health investigation, or disease prevention. Biological substances include blood and its components, urine, stool, nasal swabs, and other specimens. These samples are classified as Category A, Category B, or exempt, depending on their infectiousness and ability to cause disease in humans or animals.
