Office of Emergency Preparedness and Response (OEPR) regional and response field staff
The mission of the Regional Field Team is to assist all county and Tribal Emergency Preparedness and Response coordinators at local public health agencies achieve their preparedness goals and respond to disasters in order to serve the citizens of Colorado.
The field managers accomplish this by coordinating with and providing health and medical emergency management technical assistance to local, state, and Tribal government agencies, with emphasis on emergency management organization before, during, and following a major public health emergency, natural, or human-caused disaster. The team’s focus is on strengthening local and service area capacity and capability through development and validation of:
- Local and regional plans
- Policies
- Training and exercises
During a response, the OEPR field manager, in partnership with OEPR leadership, coordinates efforts between other state agencies, local authorities, and federal partners to achieve stated health and medical goals and objectives. The field managers also work with public information officers to coordinate awareness messaging to help CDPHE’s response or recovery activities.
Upon request, OEPR field managers support local public health agencies, health care coalitions, local emergency preparedness and response coordinators, and state and local emergency managers with:
- Ensuring timely and accurate communication
- Effectively and accurately preparing for, responding to, and supporting incidents as they pertain to health and medical needs, goals and objectives, as well as training and exercise activities
- Assisting local public health and medical support staff (ESF 8) in responding to disasters
- Working closely with other state and federal agencies
- Acting as a liaison between OEPR and each service area
- Participating in development or updates to Regional Integrated Preparedness Plans
- Working to create strong collaboration with all partners within the service area
Regional contacts:
The OEPR field managers divide Colorado into nine regions, which align with the State’s All-Hazard Emergency Management regions. Each region has an OEPR field manager to work with the counties within the region. OEPR field managers can also shift or flex to support each other as need for additional support arises.
