Public Health Patient Portal
The Colorado State Public Health Lab also offers a public health patient portal that you are welcome to share with your patients if they would like to view their results.
Patients will need the following information to view their results:
- First and last name.
- Sample ID (Referred to as the "Chain Number" on the Portal Home Page).
- This is the unique identifier created by your facility that is written on the patient's sample tube label and included in their data submission.
- Date of birth.
- Zip code.
Q: Where are my results?
A: Results will appear in LabOnline under the "Samples" tab once those samples have completed the testing process and all required information is submitted and verified. If you do not see results within 24-48 hours, please double check that the data for those samples has been submitted appropriately.
Q: What is the typical turnaround time for results?
A: Results should typically be available within 48 hours.
Q: Is there any way to look at multiple results at once?
A: Absolutely! You can view multiple results at once by running a query in LabOnline (Under the "Reports -> Query option at the top of the LabOnline home page). The query function allows you to search for multiple results at once based on the parameters you set up (collect date, result type, etc). You can review how to run a query in our LabOnline User Guide shown above.
Q: I received an email which states "Unsatisfactory Sample Received". What does this mean?
A: This type of email indicates that the sample in question was missing some or all of the required information for testing and cannot have its result reported until that required information is confirmed by your facility. To resolve this issue and have that sample reported, you can either fax the correct first and last name, date of birth, gender, facility name, collection date and approximate collection time for the sample to our lab at 303-344-9989, or send that information through an encrypted email to CDPHE_labcoordinators@state.co.us. If you are unsure which sample has been labeled as unsatisfactory, you may reach out to CDPHE_labcoordinators@state.co.us to clarify that information.
Q: Why is one of my old samples now showing as "Work in Progress" when I already have a result for it?
A: Samples with positive results must be reopened for sequencing, and this process will cause the samples to appear as "Work in Progress" while sequencing is being performed. However, the results for that sample will still be viewable under the "Final Report" column in LabOnline. All samples with a hyperlink in this column have viewable results, regardless of what their status shows.
Q: LabOnline is saying that I'm locked out of my account. What should I do?
A: Your account will automatically unlock after 15 minutes if you refresh your browser. If you continue to have difficulties, email CDPHE_labonline@state.co.us and/or CDPHE_labcoordinators@state.co.us for further assistance.
