Improving vaccination rates
Providers looking to improve their immunization rates can start by calculating, understanding and comparing their own rates (generated by CIIS) to county and state immunization rates and implementing other best practices.
Best practices for improving immunization rates:
- Reminder/recall: client reminder and recall interventions are used to remind certain patients vaccinations are due (reminders) or late (recall).
- American Academy of Pediatrics reminder/recall systems:
- Reminder/recall using the Colorado Immunization Information System.
- Immunization champions.
- IQIP: Immunization Quality Improvement for Providers is a quality improvement model that involves Plan-Do-Study-Act. The purpose of IQIP is to promote and support the implementation of provider-level strategies designed to help increase vaccination of children and adolescents.
