Approximately 544 Barrels (roughly 23,000-gallons) of gasoline was released from an underground pipeline owned by Enterprise Products. The gasoline spill was reported on December 5, 2024, and issued Spill Incident case numbers 2024-1190, -1191, -1197. Investigations and active treatment are ongoing.

CDPHE role
The Hazardous Materials and Waste Management Division’s Corrective Action Unit is overseeing:
- The investigation of the release.
- Mapping the total area that came in contact with the released materials.
- Remediation of the impacts from the release. We are conducting this regulatory oversight in partnership with the Southern Ute Indian Tribe, as the release was on fee land within the boundaries of the Tribe’s reservation.
The Corrective Action Unit participates in weekly meetings with the responsible party, their consultant, and the Remediation Program Manager from the Southern Ute Indian Tribe. Coordination meetings will continue on a regular basis until the release is cleaned up.
Effects to the environment
Data confirms that soil and groundwater are impacted in the area of the release. Ongoing investigations will help us better understand the extent of impacts and provide the necessary information to effectively remediate the contamination. Throughout this process, any identified threat to human health and the environment will be mitigated and immediately addressed.
