Farmworker seasonal flu vaccine program
The goal of the CDPHE farmworker flu vaccine program is to bring free seasonal flu vaccines directly to Colorado dairy and poultry farms and community-based events to make it as easy as possible for you to get your annual flu vaccine.
No ID, insurance, or payment is needed to get vaccinated at a CDPHE-sponsored farmworker flu vaccine clinic or event. Community-based vaccine events may also have no or low-cost flu vaccines available for your family members.
Why should I get a seasonal flu vaccine?
Getting a seasonal flu vaccine is the best way to avoid the flu. The seasonal flu vaccine, commonly called a “flu shot,” can make you less sick if you get the flu and keep you from needing to stay in a hospital or dying of the flu. Being sick with the flu can make you miss work, so getting a flu vaccine can help keep you at work to support yourself and your family.
Getting a seasonal flu vaccine only protects against seasonal flu and will not protect against avian flu. However, people who are around infected or possibly infected birds or other animals, like chickens and dairy cows, should still get a seasonal flu vaccine. Getting the seasonal flu vaccine can help lower the chance of getting seasonal flu and avian flu at the same time. If this happens, it could create a new type of flu virus.
Will my personal information be shared with law enforcement or immigration officials?
Vaccine providers that participate in CDPHE’s farmworker flu vaccine program will never share your name and other details about you, including your immigration status, with law enforcement or immigration agencies. Receiving a vaccine through the CDPHE farmworker flu vaccine program will not affect your immigration status. Your privacy and safety is a top priority, and your information will not be used for anything other than vaccine administration and follow-up information about the vaccine. Sharing your identity and some of your medical history with your vaccine provider ensures that the flu vaccine is given safely, effectively, and responsibly.
