Colorado uses standardized, sequential examinations developed by Water Professionals International (WPI) for all classes of certificates, except Classes “S” and “T” which are custom exams. 

• WPI’s website provides Need-to-Know Criteria for exams. 
  • Applicants preparing to take the custom Colorado Small Water System exam should review WPI’s Standardized Water Treatment Operator Class I Need-to-Know Criteria and the WPI Standardized Water Distribution Operator Class I Need-to-Know Criteria. 
  • Applicants preparing to take the custom Colorado Small Wastewater System exam should review WPI’s Standardized Wastewater Treatment Operator Class I Need-to-Know Criteria and the WPI Standardized Wastewater Collection Operator Class I Need-to-Know Criteria. 
  • Applicants preparing to take the custom Colorado Class “T” exam should review WPI’s Standardized Very Small Water System Operator Need-to- Know Criteria.
